Developing Writing Skills Teacher Resource Book

The Developing Writing Skills Teacher Resource Book has been written to support and extend the Developing Writing Skills student workbooks 1 and 2, for junior and middle secondary students. Specifically, the teacher resource book:

• examines the different features of school texts
• looks clearly and systematically at what students need to understand about writing for different purposes
• provides additional guided exercises and ideas for extension activities
• includes comprehensive answers to all exercises in the student workbooks and the teacher resource book

As well, it promotes guided writing practice through:

• analysis of model texts
• activities to develop skills in structuring whole texts
• activities to develop skills in the strategic use of vocabulary and grammar

The resource book also provides examples of language drawn from a variety of sources. Many of the examples provide a contrast, enabling enables students to compare various forms of writing and hence improve their own texts.

Together, the two workbooks and the teacher resource book provide the means for achieving all your writing outcomes.
