Successful English 3A

Successful English 3A includes exercises for comprehension, grammar and creative writing.

Grammar, comprehension and creative writing will be alternated. The work is presented in small increments that allows the child to absorb the concept. The work becomes harder as the child progresses through the book.

The book builds on grammar learnt in earlier Successful English titles and introduces new concepts: nouns (collective, abstract, gendered), adjectives (possessive, positive, comparative, superlative), verbs, prepositions, pronouns, tense, punctuation (full stops, question marks, capital letters, quotation marks, commas, exclamation marks), and sentence structure.

Writing focuses on structuring sentences and paragraphs for a wider range of text types: stories, emails, letters, poetry, reports, recounts, procedures and advertisements (persuasive).

A revision section at the back of the book will allow you to gauge whether or not your child has mastered the concepts. You can also use Test Your English 3 (no. 530) to determine if your child is ready to move onto Successful English 4A and 4B.

Although this book appears much harder than the average grade 3 book, children who have already completed earlier books of the Successful English series should have no trouble with it.
